Definition : Inoperative motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer--  Any motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer which is not in
operating condition, or which for a period of
sixty (60) days or longer has been partially or totally disassembled by the
removal of tires and wheels, the engine or other essential parts required for operation of the vehicle or on which there are
displayed
neither valid license plates nor a valid inspection decal.

Floyd County:  No information at this time, still awaiting updates from local government

Giles County:  No information at this time, still awaiting updates from local government

Montgomery County:  Sec. 10-41, part 12 Storage of inoperable vehicles.
Inoperable vehicles shall be permitted to be stored only in a lawful motor vehicle graveyard or in a lawful, licensed motor
vehicle repair facility.   Not more than one (1) inoperable vehicle may be parked outside a building at any time in any
residential or agricultural district.
There is so far no information about how they can be stored (within a building or car cover)

Town Of Blacksburg: Section 14-107. Open storage of inoperative vehicles
It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, except within a fully enclosed building or structure, or otherwise shielded or
screened  from view so that it is not visible by someone standing at ground level from outside of the property on which the
subject vehicle   is located.  Notwithstanding the other provisions of this subsection, if the owner of such vehicle can
demonstrate that he is actively restoring or repairing a vehicle, and if it is shielded or screened from view, the vehicle and
one additional inoperative motor vehicle being used for the restoration or repair, may remain on the property.

Town Of Christiansburg: No information at this time, still awaiting updates from local government

Pulaski County:  Sec. 15.1-11.1 PULASKI COUNTY INOPERATIVE VEHICLE ORDINANCE
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to keep, except within a fully enclosed building or structure or
otherwise shielded or screened from view, on any property zoned for residential or commercial or agricultural purposes
any motor vehicle, trailer or semi trailer which is inoperative. Any person, firm or corporation may keep inoperative
vehicles outside of a fully enclosed building or structure, but which are either shielded or screened from view by covers, or
located more than 200 feet from any public street, roadway or highway, no more than one inoperative motor vehicle.

Town Of Pulaski:  Ord. No. 96-23, § 1(7-5), (7-20), 6-28-1996
Any inoperative vehicle may be kept within a fully enclosed building or structure; or hidden from sight from outside the
premises by plantings or fences; or covered by an opaque car cover or tarp so that the body of the vehicle is completely
hidden from sight from outside the premises.

City Of Radford : Sec. 55-7. Keeping inoperative motor vehicles
It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, except within a fully enclosed building or structure or otherwise shielded or
screened from public view, on any property zoned for residential, commercial or agricultural purposes or uses under
chapter 22, any motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer as such are defined in Code of Virginia, § 46.2-100, as now or
hereafter amended, which is inoperative.
The placing, draping or securing of a tarpaulin, or other non-rigid cover, over or around an inoperative vehicle shall not be
sufficient to comply with the requirements of this section.

Roanoke County: Sec. 12-123 Keeping inoperative motor vehicles
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to keep on any property any inoperative motor vehicle, trailer, or
semitrailer, unless such vehicle is completely screened or shielded from public view or fully enclosed within a building or
structure.
That the inoperative motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer is not visible from any side or from above; tarpaulins, tents, and
similar shields shall not be deemed to satisfy the requirements of this article.

City Of Roanoke: Sec. 20-126. Restriction on keeping of inoperable motor vehicles.
No person shall keep, except within a fully enclosed building or structure or otherwise shielded or screened from view, on
any property zoned or used for residential purposes, or on any property zoned for commercial or agricultural purposes,
any motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer which is inoperable; however, one (1) such vehicle may be kept outside a fully
enclosed building or structure, provided that it is shielded or screened from view.
Notwithstanding any other provisions of this article, if the owner of an inoperable motor vehicle can demonstrate that the
owner is actively restoring or repairing the vehicle, and if it is shielded or screened from view, the vehicle and one (1)
additional inoperable motor vehicle which is also shielded or screened from view and which is being used for the
restoration or repair may remain on the property . Any inoperable vehicle not visible by someone standing at ground level
from outside of the property on which a subject vehicle is located. Placing an inoperable vehicle within an area completely
enclosed by either a solid, rigid, opaque fence composed of standard fencing materials or a landscaped arrangement of
non-deciduous trees, sufficient in height, spacing, density and circumference to ensure precluding visibility of the subject
vehicle by someone standing at ground level from outside of the property on which the subject vehicle is located shall
constitute shielding or screening from view the inoperable motor vehicle in compliance with the requirements of this article.
The placing, draping or securing of a tarpaulin or other nonrigid cover over or around an inoperable vehicle shall not be
sufficient to comply with the requirements of this article

City Of Salem: Sec. 86-260. Keeping inoperative motor vehicles
It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, except within a fully enclosed building or structure, on any property zoned for
residential, commercial or agricultural purposes, any motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer which is inoperative
